A Laundry Room Craft Room, Creating a Dual-Purpose Space
I don’t have space for a dedicated craft room so I in my wisdom thought That I might create a craft room / laundry room combo (can’t be such a silly idea as I found a few pictures of craft room /laundry room combo’s to inspire me on the net ), My laundry room is not huge but there is definitely a lot of space going to waste There are probably many of you out there just like me who would love a designated craft or hobby area but just haven’t got the space ,tired of having to hurriedly tidy away only half completed projects from the dining room or kitchen tables ,so you can prepare for the next meal ,I know I am . I’ve longed for a space to call my own where I can let the craft project sit undisturbed until I come back to it, and I’m hoping this is going to be the solution. If your laundry room isn’t big enough to combine with a craft room then perhaps your home office space or your guest bedroom is big enough to serve as a dual function room.
The key will be to create a stylish layout, incorporating dual role furniture, that will work for both purposes. laundry room cabinets are perfect not only for storing laundry equipment but for storing craft supplies as well craft supplies can be closed away neatly at the end of the day behind doors or in draws, half finished projects can just be left in situ on the new and plentiful counter top space . Despite the fact that most women spend some considerable time per week in their laundry room , we tend to keep the place a bit messy and a little uninviting which makes working there a bit unpleasant and awkward (or is that just my laundry room) .

This is of course due to lack of planning and insight when selecting laundry room cabinets. fixtures and fittings mainly due to the fact that most ladies are totally unaware how much time they actually spend in the laundry room per week. I f your like me you don’t have any great fondness for doing laundry and tend to rush in and rush out paying scant attention to your surroundings in your hurry to get the chore done and onto something either more meaningful or more enjoyable (or is that just me again) For this reason the bare minimum of cabinetry is often the rule of thumb in most laundry rooms , or at least it is in mine., so there’s plenty of room for expansion.
When it comes to choosing any kind of storage whether it be for a laundry room a craft room or even for storage in the garage the first thing that should be borne in mind is , are the cabinets or shelving units adequate to storing the desired items, in other words are the shelves and cabinets deep enough, adequate to the task of storing the respective items within them, will your sewing or cricut machine fit on the shelves and will the doors still close.
Choose the best and sturdiest and the most space efficient storage cabinets that will hold all the laundry soaps detergents and other laundry room supplies, ensure you have plenty of counter top space for folding clothes and sorting socks and undies in an organized manner and still provide plentiful counter space for craft projects and space to carry out other laundry duties.. If you pay a little more attention to the tasks you actually carry out in the laundry room you will be aware how very valuable extra cabinetry in that room would really be , and if you are prepared to search and research a little , you can come up with laundry room cabinets that will not only make your laundry room a pleasant place to be but also offer expansive storage not just for washing but for crafting too.

In my opinion all furniture in a dual purpose room should match at least in color so that all pieces in the room blend giving an overall more cohesive look… Laundry room cabinets like kitchen cabinets come in a variety of colors and materials ,,just because most appliances are all white does not mean you can’t go with contrasting cabinetry , But more often than not you will discover that white is more budget friendly so you may decide to go with white laundry room cabinets colored counter tops and walls . Don’t forget about task lighting even more important now that your chosen space now serves double function as your craft room too.
But whatever your budget or or home decor tastes make sure you choose materials and a color scheme that makes the room more inviting and user friendly add pieces of room decor and decorative accents, ,just because this is a room that most guests will seldom see, don’t neglect to make it more attractive and comfortable for your own use, not just as a laundry /craft room ,but as a warm welcoming room where you wish to spend time not rush from, who knows you might even start enjoying doing laundry .
